How to Add and Edit Captions on TikTok Videos
Generate automatic captions in TikTok's editor, correct the transcript, and adjust its appearance before posting.
Upload or record a video, tap Edit, swipe the bottom toolbar to Captions, and let TikTok generate a transcript. Review every line, tap any incorrect text to edit it, then confirm the captions before continuing.
Before you start
Use a video with clear speech and as little background noise as possible. Automatic captions can misunderstand names, accents, music, and overlapping voices, so always review the full transcript before posting.
Follow the steps

Record a video or upload one from your gallery, then tap Edit on the preview screen.

Open TikTok's video editor. · Tap to enlarge Find Captions
Swipe the bottom editing toolbar until Captions appears, then tap it.

Swipe the toolbar and tap Captions. · Tap to enlarge Review the generated transcript
Wait for TikTok to process the audio. Read every timed line and compare it with the spoken words.

Check every generated caption line. · Tap to enlarge Edit incorrect text
Tap a caption line, place the cursor at the mistake, and type the correct wording.

Correct any transcription mistakes. · Tap to enlarge Choose a readable style and confirm
Use Style or Format if needed, preview the captions over the full video, then tap the check mark to keep them.

Preview the result, then confirm. · Tap to enlarge
