How to Recover Access to Your Facebook Account
Find your Facebook profile, request the available recovery method, or use Facebook's hacked-account flow.
Go to facebook.com/login/identify on a device you have used for Facebook before. Find your profile with your mobile number or email address, choose an available recovery method, enter the code Facebook sends, and set a new unique password. If the account may be compromised, use facebook.com/hacked instead.
Before you start
Use only Facebook's official website or app. Never give a recovery code to another person. If you suspect a hack, start on a familiar device and secure the email account connected to Facebook as well.
Follow the steps
Find your profile by phone
Open facebook.com/login/identify in a browser. Enter the mobile number connected to the account and tap Continue.
Use email if needed
Tap Search by email instead if you cannot use the phone number. Enter the email address connected to the profile and continue.
Use the hacked-account flow when appropriate
If someone may have changed your account details, open facebook.com/hacked on a familiar device, tap Next, and follow the security checks. After access is restored, set a unique password and review active sessions.
A couple of useful details
What if I no longer have the old phone number?
Tap Search by email instead if that address is still available. After Facebook finds the profile, follow any option offered for accounts without access to the listed contact methods.
What if my account was hacked?
Open facebook.com/hacked on a device you normally use for Facebook and follow the security checks.
Why did my recovery code not arrive?
Check spam folders and mobile signal, verify the destination, wait a few minutes, and request another code only after the previous attempt has had time to arrive.
Should I reuse my old password?
No. Create a unique password that you do not use on another site, then review logged-in devices and enable two-factor authentication.
